Lightweight Edge Protection with Heavyweight Performance
The Safegate Standard has been there from the start and has played a vital role in the growth of Safegate and it’s ever-growing reputation as the UK’s No.1 Provider for Lift Shaft Edge Protection. It retains it’s position as our most popular gate and continues to provide excellent lightweight edge protection.
The Safegate Standard is our lightweight proprietary edge protection system which helps prevent workplace injuries caused by falls from height. Continuously developed since Safegate began, the Safegate Standard has a reputation to be proud of, tested to BS EN 13374:2013 A & B Standards.
Safegate implements a modular design system into the Safegate Standard, giving our customers full flexibility and customisation over their configuration.
All of our systems for hire have been designed with comfortable configuration in mind – a modular design provides our customers with exactly that. All of our parts fit together with simplicity and means Safegate can provide a solution, no matter the opening size, wall material or location.

Installation
This gate can be Face Fit or Reveal Fit where necessary. Both of these methods offer alternative installation options and additional flexibility if you don’t wish to drill into your walls to install the gate.
Furthermore, the Safegate Standard can be fitted as a hoarding to provide additional space for your lift control panel if it protrudes from the wall. Hoarding will keep the panel contained within the safety gate and still allow you to use it.
Safegate will carry out our standard installation process provided your site has installed the minimum standard of edge protection. If this is not in place, our team will be required to carry out a harness installation ensuring our safety whilst providing yours.
What is Harness Installation?
Harness installation is site dependent, and generally only applies when existing edge protection requires removal prior to the installation of the Safegate System. Dismantling these pre-existing edge protection methods leaves an open edge, which our fitters require a harness to install the Safegate system safely.
Safegate is proud to be one of only a few companies in the UK to offer lift shaft safety gate installations to glass, marble and cladding. We achieve these installations by using hoarding to avoid drilling into the material, providing effective proprietary edge protection, but leaving no signs of fitting upon removal.
The Safegate Standard offers unlimited coverage for openings from 800mm to over 15m with additional panels and gates.

Secure Access
The Safegate Standard is a stable door requiring two actions to open. Only after authorised personnel have unfastened the top lock and released a bottom catch can the lift shaft void be accessed. These security features deter accidental unlocking and keep your colleagues safer.
What Sort of Panels Does the Safegate Standard Use?
The Safegate Standard uses mesh panels. Consequently, the Safegate Standard can not be used as a smoke and fire reduction gate even when solid panels are added, as the base mesh panel structure creates too many holes for effective containment. The mesh panels reduce weight, improve portability and allow operatives to see through the gate.
Why would I choose Hoarding installation?
A hoarding installation will provide your operatives ample space to access control panels, buttons, equipment and other protruding panels whilst the lift shaft remains protected.
What is BS EN 13374:2013 Class A & B?
BS EN 13374 is the European Standard for Temporary Edge Protection Systems. The three classes included in these standards are Class A, B and C.
Class A edge protection systems are designed to withstand static loads, support personnel leaning on the protection, and prevent falls. Class B edge protection systems are designed to withstand static loads and low dynamic forces, the extent of which is tested using a low-impact dynamic test.
The Safegate Standard adheres to both Class A and B standards of the BS EN 13374:2013.
