Frequently Asked Questions
These ‘frequently asked questions’ are just a few of the many questions we are asked regularly. If you can’t see the answer you’re looking for or need clarification then please call us or contact us via the Contact Form and we’ll be happy to help.
Do you sell your gates?
We don’t sell the gates we manufacture; we only hire them. As they have moving components, they need to be maintained to a specific standard after each use in order to uphold the BRE tested certification – to preserve the integrity of the system the gates are stripped down and refurbished after every hire.
What are the gate dimensions?
The gates can be fitted to openings with virtually any sized width (our largest to date was over 15 metres). The gate height is 2120mm but we can provide coverboards or netting if the opening is taller. We have also manufactured a limited number of shorter gates for clients with specific requirements.
Do you need to wear a harness?
Not usually, but this depends on site conditions, requirements and installation sequence. The system is designed to be installed without removing the existing edge protection and installation will never leave an open edge.
How heavy are the gates?
It depends on which gate you require. The complete Safegate weighs approximately 30kg, the Solid Safegate approximately 38kg and the Double 63kg. All of the gates can be broken down into smaller component parts to ease carrying.
Can we install the gates ourselves?
We can supply the gates with or without installation and removal. To install the gates yourself you will need to be trained and certified competent to do so. We can provide operative training with or without the full Edge Protection Federation (EPF) Certification.
What is the lead time for delivery?
We aim to get the gates delivered to site within a mutually agreeable timeframe. Ideally, we’d like 2 weeks’ notice to enable us to conduct site surveys and produce the site-specific Risk Assessments and Method Statements. If you need them quicker, give us a call and we’ll do all we can.
My project is based in the North of England, can you help?
We work nationwide, covering the whole of the UK and Ireland.
How long will the installation take?
About 30 to 45 mins per gate.
Do you charge for site surveys?
Do you need a scaffolder to remove the existing edge protection?
Not if the existing edge protection is its own structure and not secured to any other structure.
Are you FORS registered?
We currently hold Bronze FORS accreditation with no requirement for Silver of Gold as we only run vehicles up to 3.5 ton.
Do they comply with BS EN13374 Class A
Our gates exceed all current edge protection standards. BS and Edge Protection Federation.
We’re not sure what we want/need, can you come to site and discuss the requirements?
We’re always more than happy to come to you and discuss the requirements for your project. It helps clarify both Operational and Commercial issues and ensures a smooth-running project.
What fixings do you use?
This depends on the wall structure. The Safegate can be fitted to concrete, blockwork, brick, timber, steel and even glass! All fixings used are tested and certified to the requirements.
Who do you supply gates to?
We supply our system to most of the major construction and lift companies in the UK. Whatever size project you have, we can support your requirements.
