Safegate Standard Gate Cut Out with Transparent Background

Smoke & Fire Reduction Edge Protection System

The Safegate Solid is an effective smoke and fire reduction gate. It’s a simple containment solution suitable for lift shafts, riser cupboards, ventilation systems and electrical areas.

Tested to BS EN 13374:2013 Class A & B standards, the Safegate Solid maintains robust edge protection from installation to removal whilst providing the benefits of privacy and, in comparison to our standard gate, helps to reduce the effects of the spread of fire and smoke.

Safegate manufactures timber and steel coverboards in bespoke sizes to meet your site requirements, routinely covering opening heights up to 2500mm (but not limited to), whilst remaining face-fitted to your wall structure. Their installation and durable materials offer a long-standing edge protection measure for your lift shaft.

When using the Safegate Solid to help reduce smoke and fire, we recommend installing steel cover boards, rather than their timber counterparts.

Installation of Smoke & Fire Reduction

This gate can be Face Fit or Reveal Fit where necessary. Both of these methods offer alternative installation options and additional flexibility if you don’t wish to drill into your walls to install the gate.

Furthermore, the Safegate Solid can be fitted as a hoarding to provide additional space for your lift control panel if it protrudes from the wall. Hoarding will keep the panel contained within the safety gate and still allow you to use it.

Safegate will carry out our standard installation process provided your site has installed the minimum standard of edge protection. If this is not in place, our team will be required to carry out a harness installation ensuring our safety whilst providing yours.

What is Harness Installation?

Harness installation is site dependent, and generally only applies when existing edge protection requires removal prior to the installation of the Safegate System. Dismantling these pre-existing edge protection methods leaves an open edge, which our fitters require a harness to install the Safegate system safely.

Safegate is proud to be one of only a few companies in the UK to offer lift shaft safety gate installations to glass, marble and cladding. We achieve these installations by using hoarding to avoid drilling into the material, providing effective proprietary edge protection, but leaving no signs of fitting upon removal.

The Safegate Solid offers unlimited coverage for openings from 800mm to over 15m with additional panels and gates.

Solid Panels

The Safegate Solid is manufactured and installed with solid panels only, which are used to reduce the affects and spread of fire & smoke. These panels utilise the same modular configuration method as other Safegate systems available, but can only be installed as face fit or reveal fit.
